Fall and winter garden beds can sometimes look brown and drab. Kathy Jentz will show you how to spice up your autumn gardens with perennials, ornamental grasses and the fall colors of trees and shrubs. She will review plant materials that can give your fall and winter gardens a real "wow" factor.

Kathy Jentz is editor and publisher of the award-winning Washington Gardener Magazine, host of the podcast Garden DC and co-author of The Urban Garden: 101 Ways to Grow Food and Beauty in the City. She has presented at Monticello, the Philadelphia Flower Show, the US Botanic Gardens, Brookside Gardens and other prestigious locations. She has also appeared on regular gardening guest spots on local TV and radio shows. Her mission is to turn black thumbs green! She believes in inspiration over perspiration.

Spooky Workshop

There were no spooks, but plenty of bow makers, pinecone painters and star makers at the Spooky Workshop, enjoying fellowship and tasty treats. Thanks for helping us prepare for our Holiday Greens Sales Workshop.

Holiday Greens Sale Workshops

Every December we have a Holiday Greens Sale. We cut and prep greens from members trees and shrubs, fashion boxwood and mixed greens wreaths, kissing balls, door and window swags, hurricane arrangements, decorated tabletop trees and candle arrangements of all sizes. These are all embellished with our bows, pinecones and stars made in previous workshops. To order your beautiful Holiday Greens contact our club's email.

Meet us in the basement of the Museum for the workshops. You may drop in or email for more information.

Garden Club Trip

Several of our members and friends traveled together to see the Annmarie Garden and Art Center in Solomons, MD, where the Patuxent River meets the Chesapeake Bay. The sculpture garden features a 1/4 mile walking path that meanders through the woods past permanent and loaned sculpture, including over thirty works on loan from the Smithsonian Institution and the National Gallery of Art.
