Strawberry Festival

The largest event of the year and a party for the entire community, 2022 marks the 40th Anniversary of the Sandy Spring Museum's Strawberry Festival.

Nothing says summer quite like the Strawberry Festival. Join your neighbors from near and far in celebrating community at this annual event. Plan to spend the whole day enjoying live performances, pony rides and as much strawberry shortcake as your heart desires. 

The Garden Club will have a plant booth with home-grown heirloom vegetables, annuals and perennials as well as flowering annuals and hanging baskets from local vendors.

2022 Garden Tour

The 2022 Garden Tour was a great success! More than 200 tickets were sold for the 5 gardens. Even though the weather was hot, our guests and volunteers enjoyed the day and left with memories of five very different gardens, plants, trees and innovative ideas. A BIG Thank You to all our wonderful garden hosts and  volunteers!

STRAWBERRY TEXAS SHEET CAKE

Ingredients

• ▢16 oz strawberries rinsed and with tops cut off
• ▢1 box white cake mix
• ▢3 eggs
• ▢3/4 cup vegetable oil
• ▢3 oz strawberry jello

Strawberry Frosting

• ▢1/4 cup butter softened
• ▢4 oz cream cheese softened
• ▢1 tsp vanilla extract
• ▢3 cups powdered sugar
• ▢1/4 cup strawberry puree

Instructions

 

• Preheat oven to 350.
• Begin by adding your strawberries to a blender or food process and blending. You will need 1 cup of pureed strawberries for the cake batter, plus an additional ¼ cup of pureed strawberries for the frosting.
• Mix cake mix, eggs, and oil in a large bowl until well combined. Add JELL-O and 1 cup strawberry puree. Mix well.
• Pour into a greased 9x13 pan.
• Bake for 30 minutes.
• Let cake cool.
• While cake is cooling, make frosting by creaming together the butter and cream cheese. Add vanilla, powdered sugar and strawberry puree. Frost cake. ENJOY!
